In this lesson, we’ll solve a speed question using 2 different methods:

(a) Distance ratio & speed ratio

(b) Using proportions

Question

Jack took a train while Ed drove his car from the train station to town. They set off at the same time from the same place taking the same route. When Jack reached the town in 2/3 h, Ed covered only 14/25 of the distance between the train station and the town. If the train’s average speed was 66 km/h faster than Ed’s average driving speed, find the distance between the train station and the town.
