THE THINKING WRITER

Creative writing is part science and part art. The science of writing is concerned with the construction of coherent sentences. The art of creative writing, on the other hand, refers to the composition of sentences that move the reader. To write well, one must be skilled in both respects.

​

The scientific aspect - grammar, punctuation, semantics - is something anybody can become proficient in with sufficient effort. The artistic aspect requires exploration, ingenuity and practice. There are limitless ways in which an idea can be expressed in writing. In this creative writing programme, we train writers to think about their writing objectives and equip them with the necessary skills to achieve them.
